The art of Ricx

A forgotten illustrator

Ricx (1899-1989) was a gifted illustrator dedicated to bringing a touch of poetry into his everday's world. Or as a chocolate advert puts it, "quelques grammes de finesse dans un monde de brutes".

His main activity was teaching of historical styles and graphism for the industry, running his publicity agency and illustrating books, but he also designed personalized ex-libris logos, decorative ironware, theatre clothing and backdrops, rugs and tapestries, wooden furniture, and (most interestingly from an artistic point of view) in his free time he let loose his imagination in poetic paintings.

This website aims to pull his work out of oblivion, and share it with all who are interested.
